What is the Mothman?
The Mothman is a legendary creature that gained prominence in popular culture due to reported sightings and alleged encounters in the Point Pleasant area of West Virginia, United States, in the late 1960s. It is described as a large, winged creature with glowing red eyes, standing around 7 feet tall and possessing a wingspan of 10 to 15 feet.
The name "Mothman" was coined by local newspapers after the creature was likened to a giant moth due to its wings and its ability to fly. Witnesses described it as having a human-like shape, but with wings and distinctive glowing red eyes. Some accounts claim that it emitted a high-pitched noise or a screeching sound.
The Mothman sightings reached their peak between November 1966 and December 1967. The encounters were often associated with other strange phenomena, including UFO sightings and the collapse of the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, which resulted in the loss of many lives.

The mothman story is so vast with all the other wild and strange things happening in the area at the time. Mothmn has been seen in more recently in Chicago and reports form soilders in Iraq and Afghanistan as well. I don’t think he’s a harbinger of doom but perhaps a observor of significant events. Mothman is my second favorite crpytid.
